Salsa Ball, dance for charity at University of Birmingham

Tomorrow (4th of December) Birmingham opens it's doors to dancers from all over the country! Don't miss this fantastic opportunity. There's workshops for every level of dancer in so many styles:Salsa, Bachata, Rueda, Kizomba, Chacha, Reggaeton, Brazilian Samba, Rock n roll, Ballet, Hip-hop, Argentine Tango, Paso Doble, Street Dance, Cuban Rumba, Ladies Styling and Threesome Salsa!


Guest teachers are travelling from near and far to make this event special so make the most of it and join us for an action-packed and exciting day. There will be performances from a London Dance school and an Argentine Tango not to mention the universities battling it out to be crowned champions! You don't have to be an expert dancer, in fact you don't even have to have dancer ever before. If you're a social dancer and fancy a go competing there will be open rounds in salsa, cha and rock n roll with prizes for all! Or you can simply join the audience and simply "boo" at our judges comments!


BUT THATS NOT ALL...The evening is something special with The Great Hall transforming into a Salsa Style Club with live band Robin del Castillo touring the UK after returning from Columbia and the UK's top salsa DJ (3 years running) Mauricio Reyes taking to the decks!


Also enjoy the winning University from the day competition as they perform a cabaret performance in the Great Hall. Thats right, the magnificent venue where graduation occurs will hold an extreme salsa fiesta tomorrow night!

      If I would not get the opportunity to see Hakkari through an Youth in Action project, I probably would have never visit ed this blessed town, settled in the middle of the mountains. Bitola. It's all about history here

Thanks to Youth in Action programme again, I came across an old, historical, Macedonian city called Bitola. Situated in the S-W part of Macedonia, Bitola settles at the foot of Baba Mountain and it is crossed by the Dragon River.   The place represents an important junction between the Adriatic Sea, the Aegean Sea and Central Europe. You would never guess, but this city has an impressive history.     It was founded as Heraclea Lyncestis (City of Hercules upon the Land of the Lynx) in the middle of the 4th century BC by Philip II of Macedon and it was an important settlement from the Hellenistic period until the early Middle Ages. Then, the Romans conquered this part of Macedon in 148 BC and destroyed the political power of the city. Still, the city remained prosperous because of the Via Egnatia Roman road which passed by the city. The Summer University of Ramnicu Sarat on the Communism Crimes

1. The Prisons I was so anxious about this summer school. I was thinking many times if it is a good idea to participate or not. I was afraid that I will not be able to take more information about the crimes during communism because already I knew something from Roxana (my colleague from the Historical Film Festival Summer School) and it was so painful to find out what happened in those cruel times.  Roxana:) After her story, I couldn’t sleep a couple of nights.
